Five reasons the Houston Texans can win Super Bowl 50
By John Buhler
The Houston Texans are a long-shot to win Super Bowl 50 this season, but don’t give up hope just yet.
The Houston Texans are the No. 4 seed in the AFC Playoffs, as they won the weak AFC South win a 9-7 record. They will host the No. 5 Kansas City Chiefs in the Wild Card round this upcoming weekend.
That might be all we end up writing about the Texans’ postseason trip, as they’re up against an opponent who will likely blow them away and bounce them out of the playoffs in the first weekend. But before you go dogging the Texans as nothing more than chum for the AFC playoff waters, you might want to consider some things that work in their favor when it comes to making a Super Bowl run.
Houston won its third AFC South Division title in five years and has advanced to the Divisional Round of the AFC Playoffs in both of their previous two playoff berths (2011, 2012). Kansas City has not won an AFC Playoff game since 1993. Both of the Texans’ playoff wins have come against Marvin Lewis’ Cincinnati Bengals four and three years ago.
Many look at the 2015 Texans and wonder how this team, who at one point looked like the worst team in football, went on to win the AFC South. While they boast a winning 2015 record at 9-7, do the Texans have enough firepower to orchestrate a miraculous Super Bowl 50 victory?
Let’s find out.
