2. Indianapolis Colts

The Indianapolis Colts had a down year in 2015, thanks in part to Andrew Luck being injured for most of the year and team facing uncertainties at the head coaching spot. Now that the Colts have shown their faith in Chuck Pagano and plan on keeping him around, it’s time for them to get to work on making the Colts contenders in the AFC again.

The good news is that they will have Luck back at the quarterback spot, which should be good enough to win them the AFC South again in 2016. While there are other young hungry teams in the division, the Colts still have the ability to get top talent in free agency, which is something those other teams can’t do.

In 2015, the Colts tried an experiment with an aging receiver in Andre Johnson. While nothing really worked out because of the injury to Luck and other issues for the team, the Colts would have to strongly consider getting Andrew Luck a top receiver in Calvin Johnson if he’s available.

The Colts currently have $22 million in projected cap space for next year, and depending upon who they cut or let go of in the off-season, that number could very well rise even more. To compete in the AFC, they’re going to need players that bring it every week on a consistent basis.

Calvin Johnson is one of those players and the Colts could easily be one of the best options available for him, if he decides to keep playing and is released by the Lions.
