High Salary D

Kevin Shattenkirk-St. Louis Blues ($6,500): Shattenkirk notched his eight goal of the season on Monday and now has three goals in his last four games. He’s the most expensive defenseman available tonight, but even at $6,500 he still makes for a great play. There are not many top options at defenseman tonight so feel free to roll with Shattenkirk in a favorable matchup with Colorado.

Kris Letang-Pittsburgh Penguins ($5,900): Letang has been hot since returning on December 26 from an injury. He’s riding a thre-game point streak and had back-to-back three-point games on December 31 and January 2. He had another monster game Tuesday in Chicago with a goal and an assist.  Letang is averaging 3.9 fantasy points a game and makes a good play tonight in the second game of a home and home with Chicago.

High Value D

Kevin Bieksa-Anaheim Ducks ($3,400): Bieksa has been a shell of his former self this season. Once a decent fantasy option, Bieksa barely shows up on the fantasy radar. With that said, he is just the type of pick that can take you into the money if he’s able to put up any type of production. Most fantasy players will shy away, meaning any points you earn from him will put you ahead of the field in your fantasy contest. He registered a goal and an assist his last time out and will look to match those numbers tonight against the Maple Leafs, the worst team in the league versus defensemen.

Tyson Barrie-Colorado Avalanche ($5,200): Barrie had a fantastic game on Monday night with two goals and two assists against Los Angeles. He earned his fantasy owners a whopping 13 fantasy points and is now averaging 3.2 fantasy points a game. It’s not practical to expect another big game like that from Barrie but he has proven to be a consistent producer all season with six goals and 21 assists. Barrie is a good value pick for your lineup tonight.
