3. Herman Moore

Herman Moore was one of those stud wide receivers from the ’90s that has been forgotten for how good he really was. The Detroit Lions would draft Moore in the 1991 NFL Draft, where he played with the team for 11 seasons, before he spent his final year in 2002 with the New York Giants.

In his 11 seasons with the Lions, Moore was four-time Pro Bowler and a three-time All-Pro wide receiver. He was Calvin Johnson before Calvin Johnson. He had the size, speed and hands to become one of the top wide receivers in the game.

In his rookie season, the Lions made the NFC Championship Game, where they were destroyed by the Washington Redskins. The Lions never came close to having that kind of success again and were always eliminated in the Wild Card Round if they made the playoffs again.

Moore was a great wide receiver that should be up there with the other greats of the ’90s, but he doesn’t get the recognition that he should get. His success as a wide receiver is lost to the Lions’ ineptitude as a franchise.

Like many before him and many after him, Moore’s career will always be remembered as what could have been, instead of what it was.
