. OC. New England Patriots. Josh McDaniels. 2. player. 47

Why They Fit: HE’s an offensive minded coach who is a quarterback guru many teams are looking at to give them a boost. But McDaniels won’t ever coach in Miami against Bill Belichick and is too smart to banish himself to Tennessee. The idea of coaching up Jameis Winston might be something that draws him down south to Tampa. He’d be working alongside former New England colleague Jason Licht, who is the Buccaneers GM.

McDaniels might be one of two really serious candidates for the Buccaneers job, hence the off-the-wall candidates mentioned previously. That doesn’t mean he’s anything close to a slam dunk though.

Why They Don’t Fit: Tampa Bay is a better job than Miami and Tennessee, but is McDaniels really going to give up perhaps the best offensive coordinator job in football to coach Jameis Winston? At the rate the Bucs are burning through head coaches, McDaniels will be able to get the job in 2020 when Brady retires at 43 and the Bucs are on their 8th coach in 10 years.

Will It Happen: Probably not, but it’s the most likely option outside of the obvious No. 1 choice. McDaniels makes sense in that the Bucs and Patriots have a lot of history, but mostly all of the positive history is in New England — where the coach will stay.
