FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy basketball lineup-January 7
High Salary PG
Isaiah Thomas-Boston Celtics (8,100): IT2 and the Celtics lost to the Pistons last night and now have to tangle with the Bulls in Chicago. Boston won’t have Avery Bradley for tonight’s game, so more of the scoring load will likely fall to Thomas. He struggled with his shot last night, but eventually he made it to 22 points and ten assists with a late surge. He finished with 45 fantasy points giving him at least 34 in each of his last five games. When the Bulls and Celtics played about a month ago, Thomas had 20 points, five rebounds, and five assists. He should be good for at least similar production tonight, and unless we get a very definitive answer on Rondo’s status with Sacramento, I think Thomas is the only option over 7K worth investing in at the point tonight. ∗∗∗
Jordan Clarkson-Los Angeles Lakers (6,100): Clarkson only played 29 minutes in the Lakers blowout loss on Tuesday, but he did quickly pile up 23 points go with five rebounds to get to 29 fantasy points. He has at least 28 fantasy points in four of his last five games and is averaging 17.2 points, 4.2 assists, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.0 steals over that time period. He scored 22 points in the Lakers first meeting with the Kings, and if the Lakers are going to keep tonight’s game close they’ll need to get good production from Clarkson once again. When the Lakers are at their best, Clarkson can be a multi-category producer and fill up the stat sheet. Against the Kings who allow the fourth-most fantasy points in the NBA to opposing PG, Clarkson is a great late-game play tonight. ∗∗∗∗
Ishmael Smith (6,100): Smith hasn’t taken long to adjust to his new team since the Sixers reacquired him right around Christmas. Smith had 21 points and 11 assists on Monday against Minnesota giving him three games with at least 40 fantasy points in his last five outings. He is a volatile play since his other two outputs (15.3 fantasy points and 20.2 fantasy points) left a lot to be desired, but he has incredible upside as he and the Sixers try to hang with the Hawks in the first game of the night. Ish is boom-or-bust, but since he’s at home and getting such high usage I like him to return a nice game at this price point. ∗∗∗
