FanDuel DFS Fantasy hockey picks January 7th
High Salary D
Erik Karlsson – Ottawa Senators ($7,800): Karlsson is facing the hottest team in the NHL tonight. It doesn’t matter. Karlsson is the best defenseman in hockey. He has 42 points this season (fifth in the NHL which is unheard of for a defenseman) and he has 18 points in 22 career games against the Florida Panthers. He averages 3.8 fantasy points per game.
Brent Burns – San Jose Sharks ($8,100): Burns has six points during his current four game point streak and 12 points in his last ten games. He goes against the Detroit Red Wings tonight who will likely have Petr Mrazek in net. He’s a risky start but he tends to rack up fantasy points even when he doesn’t score because he puts tons of shots on net. He averages four fantasy hockey points per game.
Mark Giordano – Calgary Flames ($6,500): Giordano has 23 points in 39 games this season. Lately he’s been doing very well with 11 points in his last ten games, including four points during his current three game point streak. He has 27 shots on goal in his last ten games. He has 20 points in 30 career games against the Arizona Coyotes. He averages 2.5 fantasy hockey points per game.
High Value D
Shayne Gostisbehere – Philadelphia Flyers ($4,000): Gostisbehere has been a major catalyst for the little offense that the Flyers have produced this season. He has 16 points in 22 games, including eight in his last ten. He has done well on the road this season with six points in 12 games and has five points in 11 games against the Western Conference. He averages three fantasy hockey points per game.
Aaron Ekblad – Florida Panthers ($5,500): Despite being held off the scoresheet in his last three outings, Ekblad remains an excellent fantasy option because he’s been racking up shots on goal and has benefitted from the Panthers winning streak with a great plus-minus. He averages 2.7 fantasy hockey points per game.
