High Value SG

Wesley Matthews-Dallas Mavericks (5,300): The Mavs gave Matthews and many of their starters the night off on Wednesday, but there is no injury to be worried about in Matthews’ case.  He played 43 minutes the night before his off-day scoring 20 points and 33.6 fantasy points against the Kings.  Matthews has double-digit scoring in each of his last eight games and has over 20 fantasy points in four of his last five. He and the Mavs visit Milwaukee tonight to face the Bucks who have allowed the second-most fantasy points in the NBA to opposing SG over their last five games.

J.R. Smith-Cleveland Cavaliers (4,900): Smith has found his shot lately with at least 17 points three of his last five games including 24 and 25 points in his last two games.  He had a very nice 36.1 fantasy points on Wednesday in Washington and will look to continue his run of success tonight against the T-Wolves. Smith is a little risky since he’s the fourth-best scoring option on the floor alongside the Cavs’ big three, but he’s been getting the job done lately, so he’s definitely worth considering. ∗∗∗

Tony Allen-Memphis Grizzlies (4,000): Memphis has been suddenly hit with injuries in the backcourt as both Mike Conley and Courtney Lee come into tonight as doubtful against the Nuggets.  Allen played well last week in place of Matt Barnes while Barnes served a two-game suspension and could see an uptick in minutes with the mounting injury toll.  Allen can contribute solid defensive numbers and enough rebounds/assists to get to around 20 fantasy points if he gets time and has at lsat 19 fantasy points in three of his last four games.  He’s low-risk since he likely will be on the floor so much, but he does have limited upside since he usually leaves the scoring to others.

Devin Booker-Phoenix Suns (3,900): Booker is a much bigger risk than Allen, but he has a ton more upside as well.  He had started five games after Eric Bledsoe’s season-ending injury but came off the bench on Wednesday in the Suns win over Charlotte.  He still managed to pile up fantasy points in a hurry scoring 17 points to go with ten boards, two assists, and a steal.  He could re-enter the starting lineup tonight since Ronnie Price who started in his place is questionable. He’s a roll of the dice, but I love the upside he has flashed.  He has 33 fantasy points or more in two of his last three games, and he’s the best sub-4K option at SG tonight.
