Who else were you expecting at No. 1?

While it looks like former Vikings mascot Ragnar won’t be returning anytime soon to the organization, AP’s triumphant return to Minnesota after a one-year hiatus couldn’t have gone any better.

Stranded on the commissioner’s exempt list for the 2014 season following a child abuse incident, many wondered if Peterson had played his last days in purple as rumors circulated of a possible trade to Dallas or somewhere else last summer. But Peterson returned in full force, spearheading Minnesota’s offense and showing no signs of slowing down even at age 30 and in his ninth season.

Still the best running back in football, Peterson finished the season with his third career rushing title. He also led the league in rushing attempts, yards per game, and touchdowns.

Make no mistake: the Vikings go as Peterson goes in the playoffs.
