Sportscenter anchors think Chiefs got eliminated (Video)

ESPN’s Sportscenter anchors John Buccigross and John Anderson didn’t realize the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Houston Texans.

When it comes to live television, blunders are going to be made on occasion and it’s a natural occurrence.

Most of those times however, it isn’t the lead-in to the show and isn’t something so hilariously wrong like the mistake that ESPN Sportscenter anchors John Buccigross and John Anderson just made.

After the Kansas City Chiefs got done destroying the Houston Texans in the AFC Wild Card Round Game, Buccigross alongside Anderson, welcomed everyone to Sportscenter.

With a joke or two to lighten the mood at the start of the show like Buccigross usually does, he announced that the NFL stands for “Not For Long,” because the Chiefs had just been eliminated.

Except the Chiefs weren’t eliminated and won by 30.

Now the two hosts were probably preparing for the show, but it’s the lead-in story to talk about and they didn’t realize the Chiefs won by 30. Perhaps they just got the teams mixed, but it’s hard to make a mistake like that in a blowout victory.

The two anchors are two of the best that are on the show every night. It just goes to show that even some of the best have a down day on occasion.

Oh and breathe easy any Chiefs fans that missed the game and were just tuning in. The Chiefs are red hot and moving onto the next round of the playoffs.
