But wait, don’t the Seahawks have Marshawn Lynch? And didn’t Thomas Rawls kill it this past year? Why does Seattle need another back with Beast Mode and Baby Beast in the fold? All fair questions.

Look, the Seahawks are drafting low in the line for the first round. At some point teams need to start picking the best players available, regardless of position. Cream rises to the top and gamers will find their way on to the field. Ezekiel Elliott is, with apologies to Derrick Henry, far and away the best running back in this draft class.

Lynch was banged up for the majority of this past season, and between his mercurial nature, waning health and rising age will not be long for the Emerald City. Rawls is good, but if this season has taught us nothing else it’s that a running back stable can never be too deep. Zeke is a deceptively powerful back who will blend perfectly with Seattle’s scheme. He’s lean and quick as all get out, which belie the raw power he possessed.

Elliott has incredible top end speed too. This means Seattle is getting a guy who can run over, around or past any defenders in his way. While it may look like a stretch at present, this is a great nab late in the first by Pete Carroll and Co.
. RB. Ohio State. Ezekiel Elliott. 26. player. 36
