High Salary C

Pau Gasol-Chicago Bulls (8,200): Gasol had a bit of a down game last night playing under 30 minutes against the Wizards and finishing with a double-double of 15 points and ten rebounds.  His 31.5 fantasy points gave him two straight games under 35 fantasy points, but he should be able to bounce back in a matchup he usually dominates as the Bulls face the Bucks.  Last week, Gasol had 55.75 fantasy points against Milwaukee behind 26 points, aa boards, five assists, and three blocks. Hopefully last night’s lighter workload was to set up tonight’s game when the Bulls will ride Pau in this good matchup, but there is a risk that Joakim Noah’s return means the end of Gasol’s production at a level where he’s worth this high salary.

Dwight Howard-Houston Rockets (7,300): Tonight, the center position will be a fascinating one to watch as the two of the top options (Howard and Andre Drummond) go up against the two hardest teams to score fantasy points points against for opposing centers.  Drummond takes on the Spurs while Howard and the Rockets visit Memphis.  When he’s been able to get on the floor, Howard has been exceptional lately. He has five straight double-doubles and has at least 20 points in four of those contests.  He finished Sunday’s game against the Pacers with 21 points, 17 rebounds, three assists, and two steals for a very nice 50.75 fantasy points. He has at least 50 fantasy points in three of his last five games now, and as long as his back doesn’t keep him out of tonight’s game he’ll look to continue his strong run even though he’ll have to face the Grizzlies who allow the second-fewest fantasy points in the NBA to opposing centers. ∗∗

Greg Monroe-Milwaukee Bucks (6,600): If you’re looking to avoid those two tough matchups, check out Monroe who will be taking on the Bulls who have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing centers this season and have allowed more in their last five games to opposing centers than any other team in the NBA. Monroe is coming off a great game on Sunday against the Knicks in which he totaled 46 fantasy points on 28 points and ten rebounds.  He had a double-double against the Bulls last week too, so Monroe should be able to give you a solid night at home against Gasol, Noah, and Gibson again tonight.

Zaza Pachulia-Dallas Mavericks (6,300): One of my go-to options in the 6,00o’s at center lately has been Pachulia who has proven to be a very solid consolation prize for the Mavs after they lost out on DeAndre Jordan.  Pachulia has at least 30 fantasy points in eight straight games and has five double-doubles during that span.  The Cavaliers have been decent against opposing big men this season, but I think Pachulia is still a solid play tonight, and he can save you some money to spend elsewhere since he costs less than the “elite” options.∗∗
