High Salary C

Steven Stamkos-Tampa Bay Lightning ($7,500): Stamkos has been playing some great hockey with points in three of his last four games. He’s got six points in his last seven games and gets a very favorable matchup tonight with Colorado. The Avalanche are ranked 22nd in points allowed to centers. Stamkos averages 3.5 fantasy points a game and should be considered a top target at center.

John Tavares-New York Islanders ($7,700): Tavares is on a cold stretch and that should keep his ownership down a bit tonight. He gets a great match with Columbus, as the Blue Jackets are 25th against opposing centers. Despite going three games without a point he is still a top center and deserves consideration for your lineup.

Evgeni Malkin-Pittsburgh Penguins ($7,600): Malkin is having a solid season with 39 points in 41 games. He’s working on a two-game point with nine points in the last six games. Tonight’s opponent, Carolina, may sound good like a good matchup, but the Hurricanes have actually been very strong against opposing centers. Still, Malkin is a superstar and warrants a start in fantasy hockey on most nights.

High Value C

Jack Eichel-Buffalo Sabres ($5,500): The rookie center is enjoying a very productive first season with 27 total points thus far. He picked up an assist on Sunday and now has points in five of his last six games. He still has a decent price tag and needs to be considered a top value target at center each night he laces up the skates. Take Eichel, as his price may not be under $6,000 for much longer.

Martin Hanzal-Arizona Coyotes ($4,200): Hanzal missed six games due to an injury but has wasted no time getting back into the swing of things. His return to the Arizona lineup has been about as good as could be expected with a goal in his first game back on January 7. He followed that up with an assist on January 9. A decent matchup with Edmonton and a low price tag make Hanzal an excellent target tonight.

Sam Reinhart-Buffalo Sabres ($3,800): Listing Reinhart as a value target at center tonight is definitely going out on a limb, but there’s nothing wrong with trying to catch lightning in a bottle. The youngster had just one point in seven games before recording a hat trick on Sunday. He’s up to 19 points on the year and could be starting to score at the rate he was earlier in the season. Reinhart won’t cost you much, so he’s worth taking a chance on.
