SF. Houston Rockets. Trevor Ariza. 3. player. 169.

The Cavaliers are going to smoke through the Eastern Conference in the playoffs. That’s pretty much a given at this point. However, the Cavs still don’t matchup too well against the Golden State Warriors or the San Antonio Spurs. They’re going to need more athleticism to beat the Spurs and better perimeter defense to beat the Warriors. Ariza is the kind of player who could add both to an already potent Cavaliers team.

The Houston Rockets reportedly are willing to consider moving Ariza. One piece that could go for him is Timofae Mozgov. He’ll be an unrestricted free agent after this season and it’s quite likely that the Cavs aren’t going to be able to keep him. The Rockets would certainly benefit from getting a defender of Mozgov’s caliber. The Cavs could definitely afford to move Mozgov thanks to the emergence of Thompson. If they traded for Morris, they’d likely have the depth to be able to move Mozgov.

The Rockets might also be interested in Mo Williams as he would certainly be an upgrade to Ty Lawson. Lawson has been abysmal for the Rockets this season. Ariza is the kind of player who the Cavs must acquire to be able to beat the Warriors or the Spurs because that’s their real goal. To bring a championship to Cleveland. Ariza helps them achieve that goal.
