High Salary SG

Tyreke Evans-New Orleans Pelicans (8,200): Tyreke Evans should be fired up to take on his old team as the Pelicans roll into Sacramento.  Last year, he averaged 21 points, 7.3 assists, and 7.0 rebounds against his old squad in four games against the Kings.  He comes into their first matchup this year in good form averaging 22.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 2.0 steals over his last four games and has at least 33 fantasy points in seven straight contests.  He should be stet up for success again tonight against the Kings who have allowed the third-most fantasy points in the NBA to opposing PG.  Anthony Davis’ status also could give him a boost since he has to carry the offense even more when Davis is out as he has been the last two games for New Orleans.∗∗∗∗∗

Klay Thompson-Golden State Warriors (8,200): Thompson takes on the Nuggets who allow the seventh-most fantasy points to opposing SG tonight.  He faced them back in his first game of the New Year and dropped 26 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals against them for a cool 43.75 fantasy points. He has had a couple of down games in his last two after reeling off five straight games with at least 40 fantasy points. There’s a good chance that Draymond Green sits out tonight which would allow for more of the scoring chances to go to Klay, so look for both splash brothers to get good numbers in a high-scoring game in the Mile High City.

C.J. McCollum-Portland Trail Blazers (7,200): McCollum has settled in nicely next to starter Damian Lillard although he doesn’t have to carry the offense as much with Lillard back.  McCollum had a strong 42.75 fantasy points on Sunday against the Thunder with 22 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.  He has at least 34 fantasy points in five of his last seven games including when he last faced tonight’s opponent, the Jazz.  In Utah on New Year’s Eve, McCollum had 32 points, seven rebounds, and six assists for 52.25 fantasy points against the Jazz although that was while Lillard was sidelined.  Even with Lillard back, I like McCollum to put together a solid night tonight especially given that  the Jazz defense has been a little weaker against opposing SG lately. ∗∗

Khris Middleton-Milwaukee Bucks (6,800): Middleton bounced back from an empty stat line Sunday with 16 points, nine assists, and six rebounds last night against the Bulls for a total of 39.9 fantasy points. Those numbers give him at least 37 fantasy points in three of his last four games and five of his last eight.  Fatigue could be a factor for Middleton, but playing over 38 minutes a contest has been the norm for him lately.  Tonight, he’s in a tasty matchup against the Wizards who allow the most fantasy points in the NBA to opposing SF (which is really where he usually matches up), so try to get him in your lineup tonight if you can.∗∗∗∗

Dwyane Wade-Miami Heat (6,800): Wade had a great game on Monday against Golden State despite playing through a shoulder injury.  He finished with 20 points, seven rebounds, and 11 assists for an impressive 48.75 fantasy points. He has at least 30 fantasy points in four of his last five games and seven of his last ten.  As long as he’s healthy for tonight’s game against the Clippers, he’ll continue to try to carry the Miami offense making him a good play against LA even though the Clippers usually do a good job shutting down opposing SG.

Monta Ellis-Indiana Pacers (6,300): Ellis got off to a brutal start shooting the ball yesterday, but he still managed to come out of the game with 32 fantasy points against the Suns with 14 points, seven assists, and four steals.  He has at least seven assists in each of his last five games and is averaging 14.2 points, 8.8 assists, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.0 steals in those five contests.  He’s in a tough matchup against Avery Bradley and the Celtics tonight, but he has fared pretty well against them in his two games against them this season averaging 13 points, seven assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.5 steals.  He’s risky because of the matchup, but he’s been on a good enough roll to still go with tonight at an affordable 6,300 salary. ∗∗
