7) Ryan Braun

Between the Brewers and Reds, the Brew Crew seem to be the only team competent enough to make a run at the top three teams in the NL Central in a few years. This could become even more evident if they make a couple moves at the deadline this year.

After an injury-shortened 2013 campaign and a disappointing 2014 season, Ryan Braun showed that he still has a bit of life left in his bat as he slashed .285/.356/.498 with 25 homers in 2015. While these aren’t 2008-2012 Ryan Braun numbers, these are still really good.

I thought for certain that Braun was going to be traded by last season’s deadline, but the Brewers chose to deal Carlos Gomez instead. With the acquisition of Domingo Santana last season, the Brewers already have a natural replacement for Braun in right field, and if Khris Davis can improve, Braun becomes even more tradeable.

The haul Braun could potentially bring would dwarf any reason to keep the former NL MVP. With the Brewers relying on the likes of Kyle Lohse and no longer having Mike Fiers, it’s no secret the Brewers could use some pitching prospects. If you have Braun in the middle of another 20+ homer season, he will certainly fetch a good sum of prospects.
