Blair Walsh visited a group of first graders that wrote him letters to cheer him up after his missed field goal against the Seahawks.

The Minnesota Vikings were trailing the Seattle Seahawks 10-9 with under 30 seconds left in Sunday’s NFC Wild Card matchup in frigid Minnesota. Teddy Bridgewater was able to take his team right down the field to set up a game-winning field goal for the almost automatic Blair Walsh. Walsh needed to drill a 27-yard kick to send the Vikings to the desert to face Arizona, but Walsh botched the kick wid left.

Walsh’s teammates were in utter shock on the sidelines that he just missed a field goal closer than an extra point.

On Monday, a group of first graders from a local elementary school wanted to help cheer Walsh up after his missed game-winning field goal by writing him letters. The letters the group wrote consoled Walsh, and they all told him that everything would be alright. Some letters tried making him feel better by making him laugh, and some kids wrote about how they too have messed up before.

After receiving these letters, Walsh decided to do one of the coolest things: he went and visited the first graders that wrote him letter.

Walsh read all the letters the kids wrote him, and he signed autographs for them all. This event showed all of two things that we should already know: 1) Kids are the best empathizers out there. 2) Professional athletes can make the biggest difference when they get involved in their local communities.
