Chip Kelly named 49ers head coach
By Mike Dyce
Former Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly was named for the same position with the San Francisco 49ers.
The San Francisco 49ers are looking for another head coach to replace Jim Tomsula, the replacement of Jim Harbaugh who has failed to keep the franchise winning. It looks like they’ve found their man, with the 49ers CEO Jed York announcing that they hired former Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly.
Kelly was fired from the Philadelphia job before the Eagles’ season ended. After leading the Eagles to a division title and the playoffs, Kelly was fired after just three brief seasons.
Kelly’s methods in Philadelphia were unconventional and at times controversial. Kelly believed in his system over players and dispatched superstars and Pro Bowl talent like LeSean McCoy, DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin.
Some questions remained to be seen. Can Kelly turn around the 49ers who are at the bottom of not only the NFC East, but the NFC Conference.
What does this mean for Colin Kaepernick as quarterback? Does he keep him or go in a different direction?
It will be interesting to watch but it might be a tall order.
