High Salary PF

Anthony Davis-New Orleans Pelicans (10,300): Davis took the weekend off last weekend after diving into the stands and hurting his back.  He came back on Wednesday against the Kings with 24 points and ten boards for a solid 47 fantasy points. In his last  six games where he was able to play his regular minutes, he has been able to post at least 44 fantasy points five times.  Tonight against the Hornets, I think we could be in store for a monster game since the Hornets don’t have a ton of size up front and have allowed the eighth-most fantasy points to opposing PF so far this season. Marvin Williams and Cody Zeller will have a hard time doing anything to stop Davis as long as he can avoid further injury. ∗∗

Kevin Love-Cleveland Cavaliers (7,100): Owners who got burned by Love last night against San Antonio won’t want to hear about his 28 fantasy points. However, he could be set up for a great bounceback game tonight against the Rockets who allow the most fantasy points in the NBA to opposing power forward although they have been better lately.  Love had at least 35 fantasy points in four of his last five games before last night’s letdown which wasn’t surprising against the Spurs’ defense at home.  He could really be the focus of the offense tonight if he plays and LeBron sits against the Rockets tonight. With LeBron-∗ No LeBron-

Thaddeus Young-Brooklyn Nets (7,100): Another team whose interior defense leaves much to be desired is the Portland Trail Blazers who will be taking on the Nets and Thaddeus Young tonight in Brooklyn.  Young had struggled a bit since Jarrett Jack’s injury with 12 points or fewer and no double-doubles for four games.  He finally returned to form, though, against the Knicks on Wednesday with 19 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, and three blocks for a very nice 44.25 fantasy points. If he can continue that form tonight against the Blazers, he’ll be a great option for tonight and going forward for the offense-starved Nets.

Dirk Nowitzki-Dallas Mavericks (6,300): Dirk got the night off on Wednesday after an overtime loss to Cleveland on Tuesday.  In Tuesday’s game, the veteran PF had 17 points and 11 rebounds for a solid 36.75 fantasy points. It was his fifth straight game with at least 34 fantasy points and he had scored at least 20 points in each of the previous four contests.  Tonight, he’ll take on the Bulls who have given up more fantasy points to opposing PF than any other team in the NBA over their last five games by a very wide margin.  Dirk had 16 points and six boards against Chicago earlier this season, but I think he’ll be able to outpace those numbers and be a solid play tonight. ∗∗

Nikola Mirotic-Chicago Bulls (6,200): Mirotic was horrible last night against the 76ers when I loved him, so since I don’t like him tonight against the Mavericks he will probably put up a monster game.  He’s not in my lineup, but he’s been running so contrary to my picks that probably means he should be in yours.
