High Value SF

Harrison Barnes-Golden State Warriors (5,600): Barnes is just about back to his full minutes workload and has scored double-digit points in five of his last six games.  He added six rebounds, two assists, two steals, and a block to his 12 points on Thursday for a very nice 29 fantasy points. He has over 28 fantasy points in each of his last two games, and he should continue to work back into the Golden State rotation tonight against the Pistons. He’s a very affordable option who will get plenty of time on the floor in a great offense.

Robert Covington-Philadelphia 76ers (5,000):  Covington has played over 30 minutes in each of the Sixers last two games and has made the most of his time on the floor.  On Thursday, he dropped 25 points on the Bulls to go with six rebounds and two steals on his way to 41 fantasy points. In the previous game against the Cavs, Covington had seven points, eight boards, and four assists for 23.5 fantasy points. With Jerami Grant and Nik Stauskas both doubtful tonight against Memphis, look for plenty of time for Covington again tonight against the Blazers. Covington is notoriously streaky, but when he gets his game going he can produce well above his pay grade.

Joe Johnson-Brooklyn Nets (5,000): Johnson has become a much more involved part of the Nets attack since the injury to Jarrett Jack, and the veteran will take on his former team tonight as the Nets head to his old stomping grounds in Atlanta.  Johnson has at least 25 fantasy points in three of his last four games including last night with he had a solid 15 points, four assists, and three rebounds in just 33 minutes against the Blazers.  Johnson has scored in double-digits in seven of his last eight games, and he should be active and ready to take on his former teammates tonight.  He’s not a flashy pick, but he can be productive in his newly increased role.

Derrick Williams-New York Knicks (4,400): I’ve been fooled by Williams before when he has flashed potential, but his recent run has shown the upside that made him such a high draft pick.  Williams had 31 points against the Nets on Wednesday with seven rebounds and a massive 42.25 fantasy points. He had 15 points and ten boards on Tuesday as well, and he’ll get plenty of playing time at SF and PF if Anthony and Porzingis are both sidelined tonight.  Like Afflalo and Lance Thomas, his value is dependent on their status, but he’s impossible to overlook given his recent production. With Porzingis & Anthony-∗ With Porzingis or Anthony out-∗∗ With both Porzingis & Anthony in-

Stanley Johnson-Detroit Pistons (3,900): If you have to go extra-cheap at SF, there are two options to check out. The first is Stanley Johnson who has at least 19 fantasy points in four of his last five games and is coming off of 19 points, three rebounds, and two steals against Memphis last Thursday. Detroit will likely have to go small against the Warriors which could result in extra time for the 19-year old who usually gets expanded minutes in blowouts as well.

Lance Thomas-New York Knicks (3,600): Thomas is the other cheap play to consider if he draws another start in place of Carmelo Anthony (questionable). Thomas has played at least 22 minutes in each of his last three games and has produced decent but not spectacular numbers. He’s a dice-roll, but worth a look if Anthony is out. If no ‘Melo-∗ If Melo plays-no stars.
