DraftKings daily picks: Fantasy hockey lineup- January 18
High Salary W
Blake Wheeler – Winnipeg Jets ($6,800): Wheeler found the back of the net on Friday night, giving him a two-game goal streak and three goals over the last four games. He’s one of the top sources of offense for the Jets and has been generous to fantasy owners this season with an average of 4.1 fantasy points a game. He has a favorable matchup with Colorado tonight, as the Avalanche are ranked 23rd in points allowed to right wingers.
Phil Kessel – Pittsburgh Penguins ($6,700): Kessel registered two assists on Sunday now has a two-game point streak. With seven points in eight games Kessel is clearly heating up. Now’s the time to take advantage from a fantasy perspective before his price goes up. He’ll have a tough game with St. Louis tonight but will be needed to provide some offense. Take Kessel tonight in hopes that he keeps rolling.
Vladimir Tarasenko – St. Louis Blues ($7,800): Tarasenko continues to be one of the top wingers in the league with 45 points through 46 games. As far as fantasy hockey, he is averaging an impressive 4.4 fantasy points a game. He picked up an assist on Saturday night and has six points over his last eight games. Right wingers have struggled to score points against the Penguins this season but Tarasenko has a lot of talent and is usually a top winger target.
High Value W
Joonas Donskoi – San Jose Sharks ($3,000): San Jose’s rookie winger hasn’t put up a lot of production, but does have 16 points through 38 games. He’s been useful in fantasy hockey at times, mainly thanks to his low price tag. He’s coming off an assist on Saturday and gets to go up against the worst team in the league at defending right wingers in the Ottawa Senators. Donskoi is never owned by many people, making his value that much greater.
Mikkel Boedker – Arizona Coyotes ($5,100): Boedker was kept off the scoresheet on Saturday but still has three points in his last five games. He has been very productive this year with 12 goals and 21 assists through 44 games. Tonight’s opponent, the Buffalo Sabres, rank 23rd versus opposing left wingers. Boedker’s price has continued to rise, but with an average of 3.3 fantasy points a game, he’s still a great value target at winger.
Jarome Iginla – Colorado Avalanche ($4,700): The veteran winger is having a great season and is up to 24 points this year. He has continued to be a valuable fantasy contributor this season with an average of 2.8 fantasy points a game. He dished out an assist on Saturday and gets a very favorable matchup with Winnipeg tonight. Iginla isn’t close to be the fantasy star he was 10 years ago, but he can still provide great value to lineups.
