Arguably the two biggest names on the trade block this NBA season are Markieff Morris and sharpshooter Ryan Anderson. Both are tremendously talented players and could make for a great straight up trade make since for Phoenix and New Orleans.

The Pelicans and the Suns are falling hopelessly short of expectations this season. New Orleans was a playoff team last season and power forward Anthony Davis was the front-runner for league MVP this season. The Pelicans are 13-26 and are only a game better than the Suns in the West, sitting in 12th-place, four games back of Utah for the eighth seed.

This trade doesn’t likely get either Phoenix or New Orleans into the playoffs this year, but it could provide the necessary shakeup both rosters desperately need to start prepping for next year. The Pelicans could use Morris at the three or at the four and could serve as a great complimentary player to Davis. Anderson could stand as a favorite of Suns head coach Jeff Hornacek, a former sharpshooter himself, and could act as a veteran leader for this young Phoenix team.

In reality a trade of Morris for Anderson could help both the Suns and the Pelicans, in the longterm, become more balanced basketball teams. Who knows, maybe their records improve and either club could challenge Utah for the eighth-seed come April? Either way, both clubs have to do something, so why shouldn’t they consider this trade?
