player. 54.
The Cleveland Browns Cleveland-ed all over the place by falling in love with Paxton Lynch (to be fair, everyone and their brother, mother, secret lover is all over Lynch right now). And Chip Kelly hitched his wagon to Colin Kaepernick. What this all means is that the Philadelphia Eagles can reload under center with the draft’s best pure passer Jared Goff.

There are no sure picks at quarterback in the draft. However, Goff is probably as close as it comes. The gunsliger out of Cal has everything that coaches want in a player. His accuracy is pinpoint, he can whip the ball around, and his touchdown numbers increased every year he was in Berkley. The interceptions this past season were a bit of a downer, but all things considered his numbers were much better than what Jameis Winston put up in his final season before becoming the No. 1 overall pick last year.

Philly is looking to pick up the pieces of the Chip Kelly era, so starting with a quarterback makes all the sense in the world. Doug Pederson is an Andy Reid disciple through and through, meaning that he’s a perfect coach for the young quarterback. His play-calling will be conservative at first, helping keep Goff’s confidence up. As the player matures and team gels, look for the playbook to open up. It’s a best-case scenario for both Goff and team: a former quarterback with great coaching pedigree tutoring a fresh young talent.
. QB. California. Jared Goff. 13
