DraftKings daily picks: Fantasy basketball lineup-January 20
High Value PG
Deron Williams-Dallas Mavericks (5,900): If you’re looking for an option around 6K, the one that I think has the most upside for tonight is the Mavs’ Deron Williams who usually isn’t someone that shows up in this space a lot. He has been producing lately though with at least 16 points in three of his last four games and at least 36 fantasy points in each of those three performances. He is in a great matchup tonight against the Timberwolves who allow the fifth-most fantasy points in the NBA to opposing PG. ∗∗∗∗∗
Elfrid Payton-Orlando Magic (5,800): Payton may have lost his starting job to Victor Oladipo as he dealt with ankle injuries, but he should get a chance to earn it back again tonight since Oladipo has already been ruled out for tonight’s contest. Payton also started against the Hawks on Monday finishing with 26.5 fantasy points on 16 points, five assists, an a pair of rebounds. When he is running the show in Orlando he has the potential to dish out solid assist numbers and add some scoring of his own. He isn’t low-risk, but against the 76ers and Ish Smith he should be able to produce at least a solid line. ∗∗∗∗
Dennis Schroder-Atlanta Hawks (5,100): Schroder had a monster game against the Nets on Saturday finishing with an amazing 45.5 fantasy points in 20 minutes. In those 20 minutes, he had 15 points, ten assists, six rebounds, and three steals. He has at least 19 fantasy points in each of his last seven games, but its hard to count on him while he’s still solidly behind Jeff Teague in the Atlanta rotation and getting such inconsistent playing time. He definitely offers huge potential, but also a sizable risk. ∗
Donald Sloan-Brooklyn Nets (4,800): While Sloan is unlikely to eviscerate the Cavs like Steph Curry just did, he is in a good matchup and place to produce fantasy value against Cleveland tonight. Sloan has at least 25 fantasy points in each of his last three games and has been a solid multi-category producer. On Monday in a tough matchup against the Raptors, Sloan had 13 points, eight rebounds, and six assists for a solid 31.5 fantasy points, and he had an even better game last Friday against Portland with 15 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists. He’s a nice cheap play tonight against Cleveland, and I think he’ll continue to produce usable stats as long as he keeps the starting job for Brooklyn. ∗∗∗∗∗
Ty Lawson-Houston Rockets(3,900): If you have to go cheap, the option with the most upside tonight is Ty Lawson despite his struggles to fit in to his new team in Houston. Lawson could be lined up for big minutes tonight especially if Patrick Beverley is unable to give it a go on his recently re-injured ankle. Lawson has played 22 minutes of more in three of his last four games with modest fantasy production (15-23 fantasy points). If Beverley is out, Lawson should get enough time to be a decent flier. No Beverley-∗∗
