High Salary D

Brent Burns-San Jose Sharks ($8,400): As expected, Burns didn’t stay down for long. After going two games without registering a point, the veteran defenseman notched an assist in Monday’s game versus Winnipeg. He’s averaging 5.5 fantasy points a game and has been by far the best fantasy blueliner all season. You’ll really have to look for value elsewhere in order to afford him, but if you can, Burns is almost always a sure bet these days in fantasy hockey.

Mark Giordano-Calgary Flames ($6,500): Giordano has emerged as a reliable source of fantasy points as a defenseman. He’s really turned it on lately with 15 points in his last 13 games. He picked up an assist in his last game on Tuesday and will look to keep the good vibes going tonight against Columbus. The Blue Jackets are ranked 22nd in points allowed to defenseman, setting up Giordano as a priority target at defenseman tonight.

Kris Letang-Pittsburgh Penguins ($6,100): Letang was rolling before being forced to sit out one game due to an injury. He returned to the ice on Monday night and dished out two helpers. He now has a three-game point streak going and 14 points over his last eight games, including two goals in the last three games. Letang is a great play tonight against Philadelphia, but be sure to check his status prior to puck drop. He was held out of Wednesday’s practice for an apparent “maintenance day,” so he should be good to go, just be sure to verify it before using him in your lineup.

High Value D

Shayne Gostisbehere-Philadelphia Flyers ($4,900): The days of Gostisbehere being available for around $3,000 are long gone. He’s having a fantastic rookie season with 17 points through 26 games. He recently missed two games with an injury and then was held without a point in the two games after his return. However, he got back on the scoresheet on Tuesday with a goal against Toronto. Although his price has continued to rise, Gostisbehere can still provide good value as a defenseman. He’s averaging 3.1 fantasy points a game and gets a favorable matchup with Pittsburgh tonight.

Marc-Edouard Vlasic-San Jose Sharks ($4,800): Vlasic has really stepped up his game this season, and while he’s not the best San Jose defenseman, he makes for a very good selection for daily fantasy lineups. He’s been fantasy gold lately, earning an average of 5.5 fantasy points in the last six games. He’s working on a three-game point streak and has five points in the last three games. A good matchup with Arizona awaits him tonight. Vlasic has been a valuable fantasy asset lately, so be sure to get him in your lineup.
