San Antonio Spurs vs Phoenix Suns

The San Antonio Spurs are, without a doubt, the hottest team in the NBA right now, and it’s not even close. Sure, the Golden State Warriors are 38-4 and are on pace with the 72-win Chicago Bulls, but the Spurs are close behind, putting up a 36-6 record and are winners of 11 straight contests. Also winners of 18-of-19 games, it seems like no one can beat San Antonio right now.

When you think of San Antonio, you usually think of Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili as the veteran presences who run the ship, but the additions of Kawhi Leonard and LaMarcus Aldridge over the past couple of years has made all the difference. Leonard leads the team with 20.1 points per game while Aldridge is second with 16.1 points.

Phoenix has been quite the opposite. Once looked at as a promising young team, they have lost five games in a row and 14 out of 15 — possibly the coldest team in the league right now. The Suns started the year 12-16 with a shot to maybe snag a lower-end playoff seed, but now at 13-30, it’s looking nearly impossible as the franchise is set to deal some players by the deadline.

Without the team’s leader, Eric Bledsoe, the Suns just aren’t the same. The offense is bland, the defense is mediocre and the overall play is just disappointing. Who knows where the Suns would be with another 20-point scorer on the court, but right now, they have to play through the tough times as injuries happen to everyone.
