DraftKings daily picks: Fantasy basketball lineup-January 22
High Value C
Robin Lopez-New York Knicks (5,300): Lopez has been playing strong lately with back-to-back double-doubles against the 76ers and the Jazz in his last two games. He had 44 fantasy points on Wednesday against Utah on 22 points and 12 boards while adding three blocks in his 40 minutes. He has at least 25 fantasy points in seven of his last ten games. Lopez will have to tangle with DeAndre Jordan tonight, but I think he’s got another solid night in him as he steps up for the Knicks. ∗∗∗
Kelly Olynyk-Boston Celtics (5,000): Olynyk’s role in the Boston rotation is still tenuous, but he has scored in double digits in five straight games and had 16 points, nine rebounds, and 31.25 fantasy points when the C’s played the Bulls a few weeks ago. He is still risky due to his minutes sometimes ending up in the low 20’s, but he is a gamble with lots of upside to like at just 5K tonight.∗∗
Frank Kaminsky-Charlotte Hornets (4,500): With Cody Zeller already ruled out for tonight and Kaminsky’s fantasy stock soaring, tonight’s matchup against Orlando should be a huge one for Frank the Tank. He played 31 minutes against the Thunder on Wednesday and had 15 points, six rebounds, and four assist for a total of 31.5 fantasy points, but that didn’t come out of nowhere since he has at least 21 fantasy points now in each of his last six contests. He’ll get all the playing time he can handle tonight against the Magic, and I expect him to put up another nice stat line even though he probably will come off the bench behind the player two options down in my DraftKings daily picks. ∗∗∗∗∗
Myles Turner-Indiana Pacers (3,900): Tonight’s matchup against the Warriors could be a bad one for Turner, but you have to acknowledge how great the rookie has been playing lately. He played 29 minutes in Denver on Sunday and went off for 25 points, seven rebounds, and 42.25 fantasy points. Even though Ian Mahinmi returned on Tuesday, Turner still played 31 minutes against Phoenix and had 15 points, four boards, and four blocks for 27.5 fantasy points. He is the kind of athletic big man that could work for a while against the Warriors, but it’s hard to tell how much time he’ll get or if he’ll be effective in the run-and-gun shootout in Oakland tonight. ∗
Spencer Hawes-Charlotte Hornets (3,100): The best ultra-cheap option in the middle tonight is Hawes who will likely start in place of Zeller against the Magic. Hawes did have six points and six boards on Wednesday to finish with 17.5 fantasy points and also had a solid 22.75-fantasy-point game last Saturday against the Bucks. He can give you some decent numbers from his rock-bottom price point, so look his way if you have to decide to save money at center. ∗∗∗
