The Suns are in desperate need to gain an identity. The Jeff Hornacek era has not worked out for them at all. Unless the Suns show significant improvement before the end of the season, it’s quite likely that the Suns will be looking for a new head coach during the offseason. Luke Walton would be a great fit for the Suns as their head coach. The rumors have already begun.

Walton is very familiar with winning with a small lineup that runs a fast-paced offense. Considering that their backcourt consists of Eric Bledsoe and Brandon Knight, going with a guy like Walton would make a ton of sense for the Suns. They also have an underrated stretch four in Mirza Teletovic who would fit in Walton’s offense perfectly. They’d have to do a bit of roster reconstruction to fit into Walton’s offense but that’s something that they would likely be doing anyway. Alex Len is a guy who has the potential to be more than just a paint presence. Walton could help coach him up as well.

It’s been a while since the Suns have been relevant and been contenders. Hiring Luke Walton would go a long way to changing that.
