Luke Walton would be a very intriguing fit for the Portland Trail Blazers. There’s some obvious things that would intrigue him about going to Portland as well. The most obvious storyline is that Luke’s father Bill Walton is one of the greatest players to ever play for the Blazers. The Waltons obviously have strong feelings towards the Trail Blazers. How awesome would it be if Luke went to Portland to coach for the team that his father dominated for?

Another reason that Portland could intrigue Luke Walton is that he would get to work with Damian Lillard. There aren’t many point guards in the league who can average over 20 points per game, over seven assists per game, and over four rebounds per game. Lillard is one of them. Walton’s success is largely due to Steph Curry, so he’d likely want to go somewhere that already has a great point guard.

Portland has some nice complementary pieces that Walton would be able to work with. Shooting guard C.J. McCollum makes almost 40% of his three pointers. Walton can definitely work with that and help make McCollum a better three point shooter. He would also have Al-Farouq Aminu to work with.

The Blazers would be very wise to hire Luke Walton and Walton’s ties to Portland could make it too tempting for him to turn them down.
