High Salary C

Joe Pavelski-San Jose Sharks (7,900): Pavelski is having a fantastic season for the Sharks and is now up to 23 goals and 24 assists through 46 games. He’s coming off a monster game Saturday in which he scored a goal and dished out two assists. He’s working on a two-game point streak and has nine points over his last eight games. Tonight’s opponent, the Kings, have been extremely tough against opposing centers this season, but don’t let that deter you. Pavelski has the highest salary among available centers tonight, but also the highest average of fantasy points per game. He is an excellent selection tonight.

Sean Manahan-Calgary Flames ($5,700): Monahan has put together a solid season for the Flames with 14 goals and 15 assists through 45 games. He’s been a big surprise in Calgary and is a key component of the offense. He’s cooled off a bit over the past few weeks but still makes for a solid fantasy starter. He’s averaging three fantasy points a game and will look to have a big game against Carolina tonight.

High Value C

Joe Thornton-San Jose Sharks ($5,200): The veteran center can tend to get forgotten a bit by fantasy players with the likes of Joe Pavelski and Logan Couture also playing center in San Jose. However, Thornton is putting together a brilliant season with nine goals and 29 assists. He doesn’t shoot a lot, something that doesn’t bode real well for fantasy hockey, but he’s an elite passer with a knack for setting up his teammates. Thornton is on fire right now with an eight-game point streak. He dished out two helpers on Saturday and now has 20 points over the last 15 games. His price tag still offers excellent value and he is an absolute must-start while he’s in the middle of this hot streak.

Derek Stepan-New York Rangers ($5,100): Stepan continued his hot streak on Friday night with an assist against Carolina. He’s got a four-game point streak with five total points over that stretch. He seems to be rounding into form after a lengthy layoff in late November/early December due to injury. He gets a very favorable matchup with Ottawa tonight and can be classified as a must-start.

Mikael Backlund-Calgary Flames ($3,900): Backlund has been playing extremely well lately with six points over his last five games. He’s currently logging over 18 minutes a game on the ice and his extra opportunities have led to more production. His average of 2.4 fantasy points a game doesn’t look like much, but he’s up it to an average of four fantasy points a game over his last six games.Backlund is a fine play for fantasy lineups tonight.

J.T. Miller-New York Rangers ($3,600): Miller has been on tear for about a month now and doesn’t seem to be slowing down. Luckily, his fantasy price tag remains at an excellent value price. He netted two goals his last time out on Friday and has three goals in the last two games. With four points in the last four games and an extremely favorable matchup with Ottawa, Miller is an excellent target for your lineup tonight.
