3. Offensive Line
In order for the Panthers game plan to work, their offensive line had to improve. Per Pro Football Focus, the Panthers offensive line was the second best line in all of football this past season. It came about together in different ways.
Ryan Kalil is the anchor in the middle of the offensive line. He’s a five-time Pro Bowler and was drafted by the team back in 2007.
Michael Oher was brought in as a free agent this year to protect Cam Newton’s blindside. After winning a ring with the Baltimore Ravens, he spent last year with the Titans.
Their guards were both rookies last season. Trai Turner made the Pro Bowl this year and was drafted in the second round. Andrew Norwell was an undrafted free agent.
Mike Remmers had bounced around to six different teams before finding a home in Carolina last season. It goes to show that good scouting can go a long way and that units can come together from places that you didn’t think was possible.
