High Salary C

John Tavares-New York Islanders (7,700): Tavares had a big game on Friday with a goal and an assist in Ottawa. He has four points in the last four games and has earned fantasy owners an average of 4.5 points a game over that span. Tonight’s matchup looks very tough on paper, as the Red Wings are ranked second in points allowed to opposing centers. However, Tavares is playing well and will be counted on to perform tonight.

Patrice Bergeron-Boston Burins ($7,500): Bergeron is rolling right now with a four-game point streak and eight points over the last 10 games. He’s the best source of offense for the Bruins and is a safe bet to find the scoresheet nearly every night he’s on the ice. With an average of 4.4 fantasy points a game he’s been very generous to his owners. Tonight’s matchup is a very favorable one, as Philadelphia is ranked 28th versus opposing centers.

Claude Giroux-Philadelphia Flyers ($6,800): Philadelphia had its game against the Islanders canceled on Saturday thanks to Winter Storm Jonas, but things should be good to go tonight in Boston. The Flyers are not an offensive juggernaut, but Giroux has been able to put up some decent numbers. He’s got 14 goals and 23 assists  through 45 games and is coming off a game on January 21 in which he picked up a goal and an assist. Tonight’s matchup with Boston is a good one for Giroux, so take him as your center. The Bruins are ranked 26th in points allowed to opposing centers.

High Value C

Frans Nielsen-New York Islanders ($5,500): Nielsen has gone through several hot and cold stretches this season. He currently has a two-game point streak, but went four games without a point prior to that. Before that streak, he had a four-game point streak. Obviously, Nielsen is a very streaky player and you need to catch him on one of the good spells, like he is now. Take Nielsen as a value center pick tonight.

Ryan Spooner-Boston Bruins ($4,600): One key to being successful in daily fantasy sports is finding a player that’s hot and has a great matchup. Boston’s Ryan Spooner fits that mold tonight. He’s got an assist in each of the last two games and has seven points in the last seven games. As for the matchup, he’ll face Philadelphia tonight. The Flyers have had a difficult time stopping opposing centers this season. Spooner is an excellent choice for your lineup.

David Desharnais-Montreal Canadiens ($3,700): Desharnais isn’t well-known in the fantasy hockey world, but he can really help out lineups at time. He has 24 points this season is in the middle of a two-game point streak. He’s averaging 2.1 fantasy points a game, and while that’s not a real high number he has gone over 3.5 fantasy points in two straight games. The matchup tonight is about as good as it gets. Columbus is dead-last in fantasy points allowed to centers. Desharnais is a quality sleeper selection tonight.
