DraftKings daily picks: Fantasy hockey lineup- January 26
High Salary D
Brent Burns-San Jose Sharks ($8,300): Burns still has a salary that makes it tough to afford him, but it’s just as tough to leave him out of your lineup. His average of 5.4 fantasy points a game is higher than any available player at any position. Despite not landing on the scoresheet for the last three games, he’s been an absolute beast for the majority of the season. It’s likely that he won’t stay in this cold stretch for long, so take him tonight and anticipate a big performance.
Erik Karlsson-Ottawa Senators ($7,400): Karlsson will save you valuable cap space if you take him over Brent Burns, and you won’t be losing much in terms of production. Karlsson is one of the absolute best in the game at assisting his teammates and is a fairly safe bet to show up on the scoresheet nearly every night. He’s got six points in the last five games and has an average of 4.7 fantasy points a game. If you’ve found good value at the other positions tonight then you should have little problem affording Karlsson for your lineup.
High Value D
Aaron Ekblad-Florida Panthers ($5,000): After missing some time due to injury Ekblad is now fully healthy and playing the type of hockey that earned him the Calder Trophy last year as the league’s top rookie. He’s been back on the ice for four games now and is currently on a two-game point streak with a goal and an assist. Ekblad is a very talented defenseman and usually deserves a fantasy roster spot. Tonight he’ll have the luxury of facing the Toronto Maple Leafs, the worst team in the league when it comes to points allowed to opposing defensemen.
Trevor Daley-Pittsburgh Penguins ($3,800): Daley has not been a big producer this season, but a trade to Pittsburgh in mid-December has helped him to turn things around a bit. He only has 13 total points this season but four of those have come in the last five games. He’s been playing well lately and deserves a look as a fantasy sleeper pick tonight. It’s not likely that he will be owned by very many people thanks to the fact that New Jersey has been tough on opposing defensemen. It certainly looks like a tough matchup on paper, but Daley could prove to be a very valuable piece of your lineup tonight.
