High Salary D

Erik Karlsson – Ottawa Senators ($6,700): Every night is a great night to start Karlsson, who has 10 goals and 41 assists for 51 points in 49 games this season. He is an absolute must start against the Sabres. He has 21 points in 27 career games against the Sabres. The Sabres also just played last night. That’s a matchup that obviously favors the best defenseman in the NHL. He averages 3.8 fantasy points per game.

P.K. Subban – Montreal Canadiens ($5,600): Montreal might be struggling, but Subban sure isn’t. He has four goals and 31 assists for 35 points this season in 49 games for the Habs. He has at least one point in eight of his last ten games. Look for him to continue to get on the scoresheet tonight against the Blue Jackets. He averages 3.2 fantasy hockey points per game.

Kris Letang – Pittsburgh Penguins ($6,100): When he’s healthy, Letang might be the second best defenseman in the Eastern Conference. He has six goals and 26 assists for 32 points in 37 games this season. He has 16 points in his last ten games. He goes tonight against the Devils. Even with a bad plus-minus rating that is more due to his crappy luck than his defense, he’s worth the start. He averages 3.2 fantasy hockey points per game.

High Value D

Aaron Ekblad – Florida Panthers ($5,100): Ekblad has come back strong from his injury with a goal and an assist in his first two games back. He has 10 goals and 11 assists on the season for 21 points in 44 games. He goes tonight against the Toronto Maple Leafs. He averages 2.7 fantasy hockey points per game.

Olli Maata – Pittsburgh Penguins ($3,800): Maata has just 14 points in 41 games this season. However, four of those points have come in his last six games. Maata has been playing very well lately and should have a strong game against the Devils. For his price, he’s worth taking a flyer on for sure. He averages 1.7 fantasy points per game.
