High Salary W

Alexander Ovechkin – Washington Capitals ($8,800): Ovechkin continues to be an elite winger. He’s posted 42 total points this season and is in the middle of a two-game point streak. He is tough to stop when he’s rolling and he should be amped up for tonight’s home game with Philadelphia after having the last two games postponed. As if Ovechkin needs any help, tonight’s matchup makes him an even better choice considering that the Flyers are ranked 30th in points allowed to left wingers.

Nikita Kucherov – Tampa Bay Lightning ($6,500): Kucherov, despite being just 22, has blossomed into a leader for the Lightning. He’s already up to 41 total points this season and is absolutely on fire right now. He will take an eight-game point streak into tonight’s battle with Toronto. He has failed to pick up a point just once in the last 15 games and has 20 points over that span. Kucherov, especially considering the price tag under the $7,000 mark, is a must-start in fantasy lineups tonight.

Johnny Gaudreau – Calgary Flames ($7,000): Gaudreau has struggled in the last two games, but don’t shy away from him because of that. He spends a lot of time on the ice and gets plenty of chances to light up the scoreboard. Even when not scoring goals or assisting his teammates he is able to rack up fantasy points thanks to the large volume of shots he fires on goal. With an average of nearly four fantasy points a game and a good matchup with Nashville tonight, Gaudreau deserves a long look for a roster spot in your lineup.

High Value W

Jiri Hudler – Calgary Flames ($3,900): Hudler is on a good streak right now with a two-game point streak going. He’s been up and down this year but is useful in fantasy hockey when he’s on one of his good streaks. He doesn’t score a whole lot, but he’s a proven assist man and has a knack for finding his teammates by the net. Nashville presents a tough matchup tonight, but Hudler is still worth taking a chance on at a decent price.

Andre Burakovsky – Washington Capitals ($3,600): Yet another Capital is on the list for a player to target tonight. Winger Justin Williams will be a popular pick due to his current hot streak, but a better selection will be Andre Burakovsky. He’s overshadowed by all the talent around him but has quietly put up some great numbers recently. He scored a goal in his last game and pitched in two assists in the one prior to that. With seven points in the last five games and an extremely favorable matchup with Philly tonight, Burakovsky is the ultimate sleeper play and should have a lower ownership number than some of his teammates.

Dustin Brown – L.A. Kings ($3,700): Brown had been pointless since the calendar turned to January but is coming off of points in back-to-back games. He scored a goal on January 23 against Arizona and added an assist on January 24 at San Jose. Brown is by no means a reliable source of production at this point in time, but given his two-game point streak, he’s worth taking a risk on. The matchup tonight is a decent one, as the Avalanche are ranked 17th against left wingers. On a night that will see many guys have high ownership numbers Brown makes for a solid target-someone with a low price tag, low ownership, and a chance at good fantasy production.
