DraftKings daily picks: Fantasy hockey lineup- January 27
High Salary D
Roman Josi – Nashville Predators ($6,900): Josi has the highest price tag among all defensemen tonight and he also has leads with an average of 4.1 fantasy points a game. Josi has been a one of the best fantasy defenseman this season and typically makes for a good play each night. He’s working on a two-game point streak and has three points in the last four games. He logs heavy ice time and gets plenty of opportunities to rack up points. A fairly good matchup with Calgary awaits him tonight.
Mark Giordano – Calgary Flames ($6,600): Giordano continues to roll along despite being kept off the scoresheet in his last game. He’s been on a tear since the end of December with 16 points in the last 15 games. He’s been one of the best players on the Flames this season and has turned himself into a must-start defenseman nearly every night. Giordano goes up against Nashville tonight, a team ranked 25th against opposing defensemen.
High Value D
Mattias Ekholm – Nashville Predators ($3,800): Ekholm has played himself into fantasy relevancy over the last few days with a three-game point streak and four points over that span. He had a huge game the last time he was on the ice with two goals against Edmonton. Ekholm is worth taking a chance on tonight. He has just 20 total points this year and is averaging only 2.2 fantasy points a game, but he’s clearly found something lately. A hot streak and a decent matchup with Calgary make Ekholm a prime sleeper candidate tonight.
Jake Muzzin – L.A. Kings ($5,000): Muzzin has been a nice surprise for the Kings this season from the blue line. He’s been on fire in the month of January with nine points in 11 games. Included in that stretch was an eight-game point streak. He has seen his fantasy salary steadily rise and is no longer a surprise producer. Still, Muzzin’s price is low enough to where he can be considered a good value pick at defenseman. He is now averaging three fantasy points a game and makes for a solid play tonight against Colorado.
