High Salary C

Dwight Howard-Houston Rockets (8,300): Howard is questionable for tonight’s contest, but if he is able to give it go he will be starting against the Spurs who won’t have Tim Duncan.  Howard only played one minutes before leaving with his ankle injury a week ago, but he had been on a roll before that with six straight double-doubles culminating with his monster 36-point, 26-rebound game against the Clippers.  If Howard is able to play tonight, he’ll have the highest upside of any center although obviously starting him will be a risk as well.

Andre Drummond-Detroit Pistons (8,200): The only other big man who can come close to matching Howard’s upside is Andre Drummond who is coming off a pair of awful games against the Nuggets and Jazz where he posted 16.1 and 16.2 fantasy points. He is in a great matchup to post a bounce-back game tonight as the 76ers who have allowed the third-most fantasy points in the NBA to opposing centers.  Drummond had 18 points and 16 boards against the Sixers earlier this year, and he should be able to turn things around as Detroit comes home after their four-game road trip.

Karl-Anthony Towns-Minnesota Timberwolves (8,000): When the rookie big man is the most stable of the top three options, it speaks to the volatility at the top of the center options for tonight.  Towns has at least 20 points in three of his last four games and has at least 30 fantasy points in each of his last five.  He went off for 27 points, 17 rebounds, and six blocked in an outburst of  62.9 fantasy points last Wednesday and he’ll be facing the Thunder who have struggled a bit with their interior defense lately.

Rudy Gobert-Utah Jazz (7,200): Gobert is in a great matchup tonight against the Hornets who don’t have Al Jefferson or Cody Zeller.  Frank Kaminsky could pull him away from the basket a little, but I think Gobert will do just fine against the Hornets patchwork center position.  Gobert had 18 points and 18 rebounds to go with five blocks atgainst Charlotte last week for a total of 43.3 fantasy points.  He has at least 40 fantasy points in three of his last five games and at least 25 fantasy points in each of those five contests.  Since Gobert doesn’t rely on big scoring numbers to get his fantasy production, the return of Derrick Favors won’t hurt his value and he remains a relatively low-risk option tonight in Salt Lake City. ∗∗∗
