1. Carson Wentz, QB, North Dakota State

The single most intriguing player to watch at the Scouting Combine will be Wentz, in part because many have not had the chance to watch him in action before.

Wentz’s draft stock is all over the place with just a couple of months to go until the NFL Draft. Some have Wentz has around the fourth or fifth rated quarterback, but he’s quickly rising up draft boards and could even be a top-15 pick if he continues to impress.

While Wentz didn’t get a lot of exposure leading the FCS powerhouse North Dakota State Bison, scouts have recently been raving about how his physical abilities could play in the NFL. Even if the competition level wasn’t great for Wentz in college, his arm strength and decision-making should translate well enough to be worth a first-day selection.

Wentz measured at 6-5, 233 pounds at the Senior Bowl on Tuesday, the type of size NFL teams are going to like. He will now need to showcase his arm strength and mechanics to have a shot at being picked in the first round.

With a good showing at the Scouting Combine, Wentz could be the second quarterback off the board behind Jared Goff. If Wentz falters in one of his rare opportunities to gain exposure, he could start to slide down draft boards behind Connor Cook, Paxton Lynch, and others.
