Beckham versus Norman wasn’t the first instance of things getting a little testy in a duel between a team’s best receiver and its opponent’s best cover corner.

In the 2014 NFC Championship Game between San Francisco and Seattle, Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman made the play of the game when he deflected a Colin Kaepernick pass intended for Michael Crabtree in the end zone. Seattle linebacker Malcolm Smith caught the ball, effectively sealing the win and advancing the Seahawks to the Super Bowl.

After the play, Sherman tried to shake Crabtree’s hand, and the 49ers wideout shoved him away with a hand to the face. Sherman also exacerbated the situation by making a choking gesture at Kaepernick and then giving this now-infamous postgame interview tirade to Erin Andrews.
