FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy basketball lineup-January 28
High Salary SG
Jimmy Butler-Chicago Bulls (8,700): Butler managed just 24.2 fantasy points in 40 minutes on Monday against the short-handed Heat, and he and the Bulls will need to bounce back as they take on the Lakers tonight in LA. The Lakers have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing SG, and if Butler is aggressive he should be able to post a monster stat line. He has been held under 35 fantasy points in all but one of his six games since exploding for 76 fantasy points agains the 76ers two weeks ago, so he’s a bit over-priced even though he has the potential to explode and make not owning him a fatal mistake for your team tonight. Given Butler’s track record of pounding bad teams, though, I think he’ll end up with a big game in LA tonight especially if Derrick Rose is slowed at all by the hamstring injury that forced him to leave Monday’s game early. ∗∗∗
DeMar DeRozan-Toronto Raptors (8,200): DeRozan is coming off a pair of down games after reeling off three straight contests with over 30 points and over 45 fantasy points. He only managed 26 fantasy points on Sunday against the Clippers and followed that with just 25.8 against the Wizards. The Knicks have been a good matchup for him this season as he posted 29 points, five rebounds, and two assists against them in their earlier meeting this season. He may have to carry the offensive load a bit with Kyle Lowry ailing, and I think he’s a solid play for tonight although his last two games are a cause for concern. ∗∗
Khris Middleton-Milwaukee Bucks (7,600): Middleton just keeps on producing great numbers which is why he has been such a regular part of my FanDuel daily picks. Middleton has scored at least 20 points in seven straight games and had over 40 fantasy points for the second time in his last four games on Tuesday against Orlando. In that game, Middleton added seven assists and five rebounds to his 25 points and five rebounds in 36 minutes. He plays a massive workload almost every night and he should be able to find success against the Grizzlies since they aren’t as elite at wing defense this season as they have been in years past. He used to get five stars all the time, but his price has risen over his last few games making him less of a bargain and more of just a rock-solid option as the focal point of the Bucks offense. ∗∗∗
Will Barton-Denver Nuggets (6,200): Barton hit a dry spell after carrying the offense while the Nuggets were without Danilo Gallinari, but his last two games could be a sign he’s starting to turn things back around. Barton has scored over 20 points in each of his last tow games and added good non-scoring stats as well to finish with 34 and 37.6 fantasy points. The Nuggets finish their back-to-back tonight against the Wizards who will likely be without Brad Beal which may stretch their already defensively-challenged wing rotation to the breaking point. Barton is a nice value play tonight although there is definitely some risk since he is still coming off the bench and his minutes and production can fluctuate from game to game. ∗∗
