2. New York Knicks

You know those “who says no?” trade offers that usually come from fantasy basketball owners? They are usually trades that don’t make any sense for either team. Here’s one that could actually work extremely well for both teams: Carmelo Anthony for Blake Griffin.

Anthony would help the Clippers out in the short-term. As great as Griffin is, Melo would help the Clippers get closer to their goal of winning an NBA title than keeping Griffin would. This trade would require some sacrifice from Melo in order for it to work. Melo would have to be okay with taking a lesser role with the Clippers. Paul is the man in Los Angeles and Melo would have to accept the fact that it’s Paul’s team and not his. Melo has shown a new side of him recently, so perhaps he’d be willing to do that.

If he is willing, could you imagine trying to stop the Clippers offense? Their offense would be so elite that they would likely even be able to contend with the Golden State Warriors. To beat the Warriors, teams have to score. The Clippers would be able to do that in their sleep with Carmelo.

Blake Griffin would instantly become “the man” in New York. Not to mention he’d be playing alongside a very special rookie in Kristaps Porzingis. That duo would be on NBA highlight reels non-stop. The two would help cover each other’s weaknesses on paper.

This is a trade that might not ever happen, however, it would rock the NBA and benefit both teams if it did. And there’s no denying that New York would be a great fit for Blake Griffin.
