4. Kansas City Chiefs

This one isn’t seem as obvious, considering the Kansas City Chiefs are sitting pretty at the quarterback. Alex Smith, still only 31 years old, has come into his own under the tutelage of head coach, and quarterback whisperer, Andy Reid. History suggests Reid going after an explosive quarterback while his starter is still in his prime isn’s such a stretch.

In 2009 while with the Philadelphia Eagles, Reid took a chance on an explosive player recently released from prison in Michael Vick despite having Donvan McNabb at the helm. McNabb played well in 2009 with Vick behind him, but was later sent to the Washington Redskins for a pair draft picks, highlighted by a second rounder.

Not only did Vick have one of the best seasons of his career working with Reid, but he also did wonders to repair his damaged image following his dogfighting arrest.

While Manziel faced the large-scale legal issues of Vick, his dual domestic incidents are nonetheless a giant public relations nightmare. Reid has traversed those waters with success in the past, and has the clout and respect league-wide to take on such a risk and come out just fine even if the experiment fails.

On the field, Reid has always gotten the most out his players, especially at the quarterback position. If Manziel would listen to him, both on-and-off the field, he could turn his career around and win the hearts of the Kansas City faithful in the process.
