With a Heisman contending running back in true junior Leonard Fournette and traditionally lackluster play from the quarterback position during the Les Miles era in Baton Rouge, the LSU Tigers should always look for high school talent that can help them on the offensive line.

One player that the Tigers should consider is four-star offensive guard John Simpson of North Charleston, South Carolina. Simpson is the No. 183 player in the country according to Scout and is the No. 13 offensive guard in his graduating class.

At 6’4″, 288 pounds, Simpson could become a strong interior offensive lineman for LSU offensive coordinator Cam Cameron. Cameron has shown during his time in LSU that he will run the offense based around who are his best players are on the gridiron. He ran a great aerial attack on former starting quarterback Zach Mettenberger’s rocket arm and now picks up yards by pounding the rock with Fournette.

Simpson’s size could make him big enough to hold up in pass protection, while having the necessary leverage to thrive in run blocking on the interior of the offensive line for LSU. It may be hard to pry Simpson away from in-state Clemson or nearby rival Florida, but Simpson does have interest in LSU and may want to join the No. 1 recruiting class in 2016.
