Panthers star quarterback Cam Newton freestyle rapped to the media after someone rapped at him

Weird things tend to happen at the Super Bowl in the days leading up to the big game, particularly on nights like Super Bowl Opening Night. With someone with the personality of Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton being in the fold this year, the strange things only seemed like more of a formality. That was a correct assumption as we now have a Super Bowl quarterback answering questions with a freestyle rap.

It all started when Newton was asked a question in rap form by someone who somehow procured a press pass:

Because Newton is one of the players at Super Bowl 50 more willing to play along with this type of things than some others might be, the Panthers quarterback and likely MVP did his best to keep the same style going and answer with a rhyme or two of his own:

Breaking news: Cam Newton will not be releasing a rap album anytime soon, because that freestyle was absolutely awful.

Once you get over the fact that Newton is historically awful at freestyle rapping, it’s pretty amazing that a guy with his charisma gets to be on this stage and shine. He was essentially made for this moment with his ability to just roll with anything, show enthusiasm, and enjoy the moment. It’s fantastic and hopefully this isn’t the last of this type of thing that we see in Super Bowl week.
