2. New England Patriots: Super Bowl XXXVI

Kurt Warner, a Super Bowl winning quarterback for the St. Louis Rams headed into Super Bowl XXXVI in New Orleans looking to help his team get their second title in three years after a 14-2 season. All that stood in their way was a New England Patriots squad led by their second-year, sixth-round pick quarterback, Tom Brady.

Brady wasn’t even supposed to be the quarterback for coach Bill Belichick’s team, but after their starter Drew Bledsoe went down with an injury the Michigan product led the Pats to an 11-5 season and has never seen the bench since.

New England featured a stellar defense, sixth in the league in scoring, against the “Greatest Show on Turf,” an offense that could score at any second. In the end, the younger quarterback was able to orchestrate the win as the veteran and his great offense managed less than 20 points in the game.

Brady won the MVP of the Super Bowl for his performance where he completed 16-of-27 passes for 145 yards and a touchdown. Most importantly, he was able to move the team within range for a game winning field goal.

With the score tied at 17 apiece, kicker Adam Vinatieri nailed a 48-yard field goal with no time left and gave his team the 20-17 win. The win was just the beginning as the underdog Patriots became a great dynasty that is still in the mix for a title on an annual basis.
