High Salary C

Tyler Seguin – Dallas Stars ($8,600): Seguin started the second half of his season in about the best way possible. He broke a four-game pointless streak by netting two goals on Tuesday night in a win over Winnipeg. Seguin has been a fantasy stud all season and is up to 28 goals and 30 assists. He’s averaging 4.9 fantasy points a game and gets a decent matchup with Colorado tonight. Sequin is a good high salary target at center tonight.

John Tavares – New York Islanders ($7,800): Tavares continued his hot streak on Tuesday with a goal and an assist against Minnesota. He has really turned it on lately and has a three-game point streak with seven points in the last six games. His price tag is back near the $8,000 mark, but he’s proven to be worth it. He’ll go up against Washington tonight, a matchup that’s actually a good one on paper because the Capitals have struggled a bit against opposing centers this season.

Nicklas Backstrom – Washington Capitals ($6,700): You could really substitute fellow Washington center Evgeni Kuznetsov into this spot, but Backstrom gets the nod tonight. He’s working on a four-game point streak and has 13 points in his last 12 games. Backstrom plays on arguably the most talented team in the NHL, meaning that he has plenty of playmakers around him. He has 29 assists this year to go along with 17 goals. That’s a good number, considering that he’s mainly thought of as a set-up man for Alexander Ovechkin. Take Backstrom tonight against the Islanders.

High Value C

Ryan Kesler – Anaheim Ducks ($4,800): Kesler didn’t show up on the scoresheet Tuesday night, but he’s still on a hot streak with five points in the last four games. He only has 23 total points for the year, but 11 of them have come in the last 15 games. Kesler has quickly become relevant in the fantasy hockey world again and is now averaging nearly three fantasy points a game. Tonight’s matchup with Los Angeles looks tough on paper, but Kesler is still an excellent value target at center.

Leon Draisaitl – Edmonton Oilers ($5,000): Draisaitl is enjoying a breakout season and is averaging nearly a point per game with 38 points through 41 games. He notched a goal on Tuesday night and now has a two-game goal streak and three goals in the last four games. Draisaitl is a must-start on most nights, especially when he gets an appealing matchup like tonight. The Carolina Hurricanes are ranked 30th in points allowed to opposing centers.

Brandon Sutter – Vancouver Canucks ($4,300): Sutter is worth taking a chance on now that he has returned from an injury. He had been out since November 10 with an abdomen injury and his return has coincided with an injury to Daniel Sedin, making Sutter the de facto top-line center for the Canucks. He’s only been back for one game but scored a goal and racked up 5.5 fantasy points. A very favorable matchup with Columbus awaits tonight, making Sutter a fantastic play.
