High Salary D

Brent Burns – San Jose Sharks ($8,300): Burns registered another assist on Tuesday night and now has 30 for the season to go along with 18 goals. He’s got a a two-game point streak and is by far the best defenseman available. His average of 5.3 fantasy points a game is the highest of any player available tonight at any position. He has a tough matchup with St. Louis, but is still a top fantasy target.

Erik Karlsson – Ottawa Senators ($7,400): If you are looking for a to defenseman but do not feel like spending over $8,000 for Brent Burns, then Erik Karlsson is a good alternative. The offensive-minded blueliner continues to do what he’s done the past few years. He’s great at assisting his teammates and haas 42 assists this season. He enters tonight’s tilt with a two-game point streak and eight points in the last seven games. With a great matchup and an average of 4.7 fantasy points a game, Karlsson is an excellent choice.

High Value D

Erik Johnson – Colorado Avalanche ($5,400): Johnson recently returned from an injury and has recorded two points in the four games he has played in. He only has 18 points through 44 games this season but can still a useful fantasy pick at defenseman. He’s got an average of 3.3 fantasy points a game and gets a favorable matchup with Dallas that looks good, as the Stars are ranked 27th against defenseman.

Shane Gostisbehere – Philadelphia Flyers ($5,200): Gostisbehere registered another point on Tuesday with an assist and now has a five-game point streak going. He’s put up 23 points in 30 games and has been a great producer for the Flyers this season. Although he’s no longer the salary steal that he once was, he still makes a great value pick. Tonight Philadelphia goes up against Nashville, a team ranked 25th against opposing defensemen.

Mattias Ekholm – Nashville Predators ($3,800): If you are looking to save valuable cap space at defenseman tonight, then take a look at Nashville’s Mattias Ekholm. He’s been playing extremely well lately with six points in his last six games. Tonight he will face Philadelphia and has a great value price for a sleeper pick.
