Chicago Blackhawks. Kris Versteeg. 5. player. 94. . RW

It simply wouldn’t be an NHL season if the Blackhawks didn’t acquire Kris Versteeg, would it? The Blackhawks have traded him and re-acquired him on several occasions. He was most recently traded to the Carolina Hurricanes because the Hawks desperately needed cap space. Well, the Hurricanes are open to trading Versteeg and the Blackhawks happen to need scoring depth. Could Versteeg find himself in Chicago once again?

Versteeg has 10 goals and 21 assists for 31 points this season for the Hurricanes. He has been a pleasant surprise for them. It remains to be seen if the Hurricanes will continue to push for the playoffs or if they’ll be sellers to make their bright future even brighter.

Versteeg would be a nice fit on the Blackhawks third forward line and in a pinch, he could be that elusive left wing alongside Toews and Hossa that Chicago has been looking for. He’d come at a relatively cheap price as well. The Chicago Blackhawks know Versteeg very well and he’s a great fit in their system. Bringing him back at a cheap price would be a great upgrade to their current roster.

Versteeg could also help upgrade the Chicago Blackhawks power play as he has contributed on the power play for the Hurricanes.
