9. Troy Aikman, Dallas Cowboys, Super Bowl XXVII

Troy Aikman headlined the Dallas Triplets, winning three Super Bowls playing alongside running back Emmitt Smith and wide receiver Michael Irvin, all three-time Super Bowl Champions, all enshrined in Canton.

Outside of his first few years in the league, Aikman was blessed to have a great head coach in Jimmy Johnson and great teammates to help the Cowboys win three Super Bowls in the early 1990s in the early days of Jerry Jones’ ownership of the team.

Aikman’s finest performance of his three Super Bowl victories came against the Buffalo Bills in Super Bowl XXVII. Aikman would win Super Bowl MVP, as his Cowboys destroyed the Bills, 52-17, in the Rose Bowl, a place Aikman knew all too well. He starred collegiately for the UCLA Bruins, who played their home games at the Rose Bowl.

Aikman completed 22-of-30 passes for 273 yards, four touchdowns, and no interceptions. He also had 28 rushing yards on three carries. Aikman’s passing was on point in Super Bowl XXVII, completely eviscerating the Bills secondary. His favorite target in this Super Bowl victory was none other than Irvin, who had six catches for 114 yards and two touchdowns.

The Triplets were the prototype offense NFL front offices strived for: Pro Bowlers at quarterback, running back, and wide receiver. No wonder that 1992 Cowboys team put up 52 points on the perennial AFC Champion Bills in Super Bowl XXVII.
