5 teams desperate enough to sign Peyton Manning in 2016

The Houston Texans are a well-coached team with a transcendent star on defense, defensive end J.J. Watt. The Texans also have one of the league’s best wide receivers in DeAndre Hopkins. Even through all the drama in 2015, Houston still managed to win the AFC South for the third time in five years.
With Indianapolis injured and aging, Jacksonville needing a few more pieces, and Tennessee picking No. 1 overall in the 2016 NFL Draft, Houston isn’t all that bad of a situation for a free agent quarterback to go to. Might Peyton Manning consider a one-year deal to quarterback the Texans in 2016?
Brian Hoyer was serviceable as a starter for head coach Bill O’Brien until suffering multiple concussions in 2015. Houston’s quarterback situation got so bad in 2015 that the Texans were trying to win the AFC South with a fourth string passer while Hoyer attempted to clear concussion protocol.
Manning used to torch the AFC South during his formative years with the Indianapolis Colts – from the division’s creation in 2002 until his last season in Indianapolis in 2010. Moreover, Houston was one of the finalists to land Manning’s services in 2012 after being cut by the Colts in favor of Andrew Luck.
Manning would get two opportunities to beat former owner Jim Irsay and “the next Peyton Manning,” Luck if he signed with Houston. O’Brien, who coached Tom Brady in New England, knows how to employ cerebral quarterbacks. He’s a smart offensive mind that could build a temporary one-year offense around Manning to hopefully get back to the AFC Playoffs in 2016. This isn’t a bad deal for either party involved.
